While it's great to put extra-strong locks onto your doors, you'll also want to study the wood you're putting them into. Especially if you live in an older house, check to make sure your door jamb is strong enough to resist a crowbar. Better yet, reinforce the jamb with a high-security strike plate for use with dead bolt lock, or get a metal door reinforcer to help stop forced entries right where they start. Another tip: If you're putting a lock into the same spot as its predecessor, fill in old screw holes with sawed-off dowel rods and wood glue to reinforce them.
